Colors of Summer Exhibition

The Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC) is pleased to announce the new Arts Center is officially open. Please drop in to see the Colors of Summer, an exhibit of art by members of our Board. You will also be able to browse our new retail shop, learn about future gallery exhibits open to members, and talk with volunteers about programs and classes in our new space.

Purple Prince Exhibit

Call For Artists Purple/PRINCE Exhibition

The Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC) is planning a Purple/PRINCE Exhibition/Dedication at our new Arts Center. The idea is that this exhibition will be ongoing and will always be a highlight for those visiting the Arts Center. We are seeking work by ACCC Artist Members that was inspired by Prince and his legacy.

Please send an email to programs@artsofcarvercounty.org with the following information describing your entry/ies. Works may not exceed 20 inches in height, width or depth. Up to 3 different works may be entered.

STANDARD CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ACCC GALLERY
1. OIL / ACRYLIC / MIXED MEDIA: Must be properly framed for protection of the work and safe handling. Oil paintings must be dry.
2. SCULPTURE: All plaster sculpture must have a permanent base. Bas-reliefs (no plaster) must have a secure ring at the top. Sculpture with a base must be firmly attached to the base.
3. WATERCOLOR / GOUACHE / CASEIN / TEMPERA: Must be properly framed and covered with glass or Plexiglas. It is recommended that work larger than 30” x 36” be covered with Plexiglas.
4. DRAWINGS / PASTEL: See above, same rules as for 3.
5. PRINTS: See above, same rules as for 3.
6. CERAMICS / GLASS: Delicately constructed work requiring more than normal careful handling is not eligible. Plaster objects not acceptable. Tile works – single tile or multiple tiles mounted on a single platform must include their own suspension system.
7. TEXTILES / FIBERS: Hand-made and/or hand-decorated items are eligible.
8. PHOTOGRAPHY: Color or black and white. Traditional presentations must be framed and covered with glass or Plexiglas. Non-traditional presentations must also be framed, but not necessarily covered with glass or Plexiglass.

SPECIAL RULES
1. Entries in 1, 3, 4, 5, and 8 must be properly framed. For the protection of your work as well as that of others, frame should extend beyond the surface of the work.
2. Unusually shaped pieces that require hanging must have appropriate hanging devices attached or included (2, 6, and 7).
3. Excessively fragile works and very heavy objects requiring special handling may be entered subject to approval of the Programs and Events Committee.

TERMS
PHOTOGRAPHY
For publicity purposes, each entrant may submit a digital image(s) of their work. Images should be in JPEG format. We recommend the shortest dimension of the submitted image be 1000 pixels. Artists MUST submit AT LEAST ONE DIGITAL IMAGE of each entry. For three-dimensional art each image may be used to present a different view of the object in space. For two-dimensional art the first image must be a full, frontal view, while the other two may be details of the work.

ELIGIBILITY
Original works by ACCC member artists. Work of student members eligible only if executed without the help of the instructor.

NUMBER OF WORKS
Please list all works submitted to the ACCC on this form. Applicants may enter up to 3 works.

LIABILITY AND INSURANCE
Experienced workers and volunteers will take every precaution to ensure that works are not damaged. The ACCC will not be responsible for loss or damage to artworks, including frames and mountings, no matter how they are caused, and all works are submitted to the gallery subject to this condition. However, it is suggested that artists insure work privately if they feel the need for such protection.

FOR SALE 
Any accepted work that the exhibitor chooses to list as FOR SALE will be sold, as displayed, through the Arts Consortium of Carver County at a commission to the ACCC. All accepted entries into organized exhibitions may remain on exhibit throughout the duration of that show. Works for sale in the ARTS CENTER may be taken away at the time of sale. Sale price includes frame, please price your work accordingly. A social security number or Tax ID is required on the registration form for pieces listed as ‘for sale’. All accepted work to the ACCC Gallery and Gift Shop will require a Consignment Agreement from the Artist.

PUBLICITY
The ACCC reserves the right to photograph any work in the exhibition for educational, catalog, internet or publicity purposes

AWARDS
In select ACCC exhibitions, Awards will be made to meritorious entries. Winners will be announced at the Artists’ Reception, in Southwest Metro newspapers and on the ACCC website. The jury will consist of recognized individuals in diverse media.

Daniel O’Brien Author Talk

Author Talk: Japanese Culture Slide Show/ Q&A and Book Signing with Daniel O’Brien

The first reading to be held at the new Arts Center in Victoria will be by Daniel O’Brien, local author and teacher. Daniel holds an MA in Advanced Japanese Studies, is creator of the Japan Series, “Exploring Japanese culture through mysteries” (www.japanseries.com). He is also founder the Authors Collective, and a member of the Chanhassen Library Writer’s Group since 2011. He has read and presented his work at coffee shops, literary centers, bookstores, and libraries around Minnesota. He teaches Medieval History and literature at Eagle Ridge Academy Classical Charter High School in Minnetonka, MN.

Wine and cheese will be available at the event.
