Whispers to the Past 2022

Whispers to the Past Art Show – Call for Artists – March 9 – March 30, 2022

Whispers to the Past – Call for Artists – March 9 – March 30, 2022

We invite all Artists of all levels to register for our Whispers to the Past Art Show scheduled for Mar. 9 – Mar. 30, 2022. We are looking forward to seeing your paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, photography, and whatever you would like to bring in!

The theme of Whispers to the Past encompasses art related to time, memory, history, and personal experience. This theme of this exhibit is highly open to the interpretation of the artist. Artwork can reflect a memory that the artist holds, an event in history, Early-American Artwork (e.g. Quilts), nature scapes, artwork from the beginning of your journey, or any other type of artwork that the title invokes for you.

The show is being presented alongside Chaska Valley Family Theatre’s production of “Bright Star” which is running in the theatre March 10-27, 2022. This show was written and composed by comedy-legend Steve Martin, and Edie Brickell. Based on the true story of the Iron Mountain Baby, this show features a stunning bluegrass score with the central themes of family, redemption, tradition and forgiveness. The setting of the show is in the Appalachian Mountains during 1920’s and the 1940’s, and there are flashbacks in time, including the song “Way Back in the Day”. Bright Star is being directed by the ACCC’s Executive Director, Zachary Hedner.

Please feel free to let your pieces be inspired by the music, score, story, or true story behind “Bright Star”. There will be an announcement in the show and in the program to visit the gallery, so we would love to have the pieces in the exhibit connect to the production.

All media is welcome. Up to 5 entries per person.

*Note that visual art items in the show must be for sale; books and music CDs referencing your work in the gallery will be for sale in the gift shop
