Welcome to our latest Board Members!

The Arts Consortium of Carver County is pleased to welcome our newest Board Members, Hannah Johnson and Abigail Davisson.

Hannah is currently the President of the Board for the Chaska Valley Family Theater and has also served that organization as the Executive Director. Hannah brings a proven ability to help build consensus and involve all team members in an effort to achieve goals. She is a leader in the Arts field, with a focus on inclusion, welcoming everyone to enjoy, participate and interact with the theater. She is committed to the goal of expanding arts access in Carver County and looks forward to building collaboration between CVFT and the ACCC.

Abigail is an artist, primarily with oil painting. She is a Job Coach for the Eastern Carver County School District. Abigail joined the Arts Consortium of Carver County this summer when she discovered it through ArtStock Art, Wine & Music.  She started volunteering for the ACCC and shortly thereafter was recruited to join the board because of her energy and enthusiasm about the arts and the ACCC. She is interested in helping bring artists together and making art accessible to the community. Some of her work is currently on display in the Member Show at the ACCC Gallery.

The ACCC welcomes Hannah & Abigail to our Board!

Writer’s Appreciation Reception – November 6

Did you know that authors/writers have our own holiday? November 1st is National Author’s Day, as well as the start of National Novel Writing Month! To celebrate writers of all kinds the ACCC Literary Committee is hosting a reception to acknowledge our creative talents. Mark your calendars again for Saturday, November 6, 2021, more details will follow.

Calling for Musicians and Writers

An Evening of Music & Literature
Do you like to try new things?  Would you like to be part of an evening of music and literature in a program that features both of those arts?  To participate, choose one of the following themes and create a literary piece (prose or poetry) on that theme:  1)  Starry Nights, 2)  Winter Sundays, 3)  Home Blue, or 4)  Missing You.

We’ll present those works on January 27, 2022, in the theater at the Chaska Community Center, along with music composed by musicians on the same themes.  The event is called “Inspired by Winter– An Evening of Music and Literature.  The program will be created that evening so that works on the same theme will be grouped together, alternating musical works with literary ones.  Writers and performers will present just one piece each of no more than five minutes. You do not have to be a member of the Arts Consortium of Carver County to participate.  We welcome all writers who wish to participate. We are looking forward to this evening of pieces by musicians and writers.  Mark your calendars and start writing!  We hope you will join us and invite your friends!

If you have any questions about upcoming Literary Events, please contact any member of the Literary Committee of the ACCC at literary@artsofcarvercounty.org, or the ACCC office/Gift Shop at 952-443-3200.

Artist Spotlight – Abigail Davisson

Abigail Blythe Davisson has a BFA in Photography from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Since her graduation, she has worked in the education field with a focus on teens. While living and teaching in Seoul, South Korea for four years, she had access to a darkroom and continued to express her creativity through photography. When Abigail returned to Minnesota in 2013, there wasn’t the access to a darkroom and she very quickly realized she needed a different artistic outlet. She started to explore oil painting and now Abigail spends the majority of her time painting in her studio when she’s not working and job coaching. She has been exploring color and form, mostly through abstract animals and insects.

Here are examples of her work:
