Artists’ Reception for the Sense of Place Exhibitition – April 15

We invite you to attend the Artists’ Reception for the Sense of Place Exhibition on Thursday, April 15th. Come visit us and see the artist’s creative expression inspired by the year of 2020. Meet and talk with the Artists about their work and experiences. Refreshments will be served throughout the evening.  We are CoVid prepared,  state and local mandates will apply at the time to all guests.

Paint Pour Fused Glass Art Class

Ages 18+

You will create a colorful design on glass with enamel paints. Various techniques will be demonstrated, and you will receive 1-1 assistance as your creative juices flow. The instructor will then let the pieces dry and eventually fuse on a solid-colored glass base and slump it in a mold of the student’s choice. Your beautiful plates or bowls will be available for pick up at the Arts Center 1-3 weeks after the class.

Includes all supplies to make one piece. Additional materials for a 2nd piece can be purchased at the time of the class for an additional $25, paid by cash or check to the instructor.

Due to the MN state mandate, masks will be required.

Colorful Fused Heart Pendants Class

Ages 8-12

You will create 2 beautiful custom heart pendants using bits of clear and colored glass. These pendants make great Mother’s Day, birthday or teacher’s gifts for that special person. You will choose your own colors, cut and weigh the glass and fill the heart molds during the class session.

The instructor will then fuse the hearts in a kiln to be picked up in the next week at the Arts Center. Leather necklaces to hold the pendants will be provided.

Includes supplies to make 2 heart pendants, including leather necklaces. You can choose to make more than 2 for an additional cost of $12/pendant paid in cash or check to the instructor during the class.

Purple Reigns Honors Prince

The Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC), with the Prince Estate’s approval, is posthumously naming Prince Rogers Nelson the ACCC’s Honorary Member for 2021.  2021 is the 5th anniversary of his passing. The ACCC is focusing on and celebrating Prince’s musical genius and his international acclaim. The ACCC invites Carver County, the cities, schools, libraries, and businesses to join Purple Reigns and to contribute to “painting the County purple.”

Give thought as to how you could use the color purple during the month of June or specifically on June 17th, the day we officially honor Prince. Purple items on sale in your store, purple artwork or photography, purple lights on your building, purple ribbons, balloons, flowers, etc.

Take photos of how you are celebrating Purple and share on Facebook and Instagram, and be sure to include #PurpleReigns2021 on your post so everyone can share the love of Prince!  ACCC on Facebook ACCC on Instagram

See our Express Yourself in Purple Exhibit June 2 – July 3 at the Arts Consortium of Carver County Gallery in the Chaska Community Center.

Empowering Workshop by Anne Krocak

Empowering Self Through Art Workshop Series

Come enjoy this free art workshop geared to people with and without disabilities to learn about Public Art – Photography and Improv. comedy, sharing your perspectives, learning about inclusion while finding your voice and creating a community wide outdoor display. No experience required! We will meet via ZOOM for an hour and a half for six weeks. During this fast-paced workshop we will share our beliefs and voice, learn strategies for handling difficult conversations, meet new people, gain deeper understanding our similarities and differences while learning techniques in photography. We will see a live performance by BLACKOUT-Improv Comedy, and have a 45 minute intensive improv. experience – led by Joy, a professional Improv performer. We will discuss a different topic each week and work in small groups to have discussions to support each other while having FUN!

All community members are encouraged to come learn from each other, share your voice and make an impact in our community through art. We will also build confidence and use your new skills to share your message in a Carver County Public Art Display! BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities are encouraged to participate and welcome to this community building workshop! ASL interpretation available.
