Welcome Back Open Reading June 29

Welcome Back Open Reading

The Literary Committee of the Arts Consortium of Carver County invites you to join us for a “Welcome Back” Open Reading at the Chaska Community Center on June 29 at 7pm in the Theater of the Chaska Community Center.  Poets and Prose writers are invited to share their work at the open mic.  Please limit your selection(s) to 5 minutes in length in order to allow as many as possible to read. This is a good opportunity to read a recent publication, something you wrote last year, or a piece from a new book.

We have been separated for so long by the pandemic, we’d like to use this open reading as an opportunity to welcome each other back to in-person events.  A bonus of the evening will be the open ACCC gift shop and a chance to see the gallery exhibit Express Yourself in Purple in honor of Prince.

Purple Reigns Honors Prince

The Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC), with the Prince Estate’s approval, is posthumously naming Prince Rogers Nelson the ACCC’s Honorary Member for 2021.  2021 is the 5th anniversary of his passing. The ACCC is focusing on and celebrating Prince’s musical genius and his international acclaim. The ACCC invites Carver County, the cities, schools, libraries, and businesses to join Purple Reigns and to contribute to “painting the County purple.”

We invite you to participate in Purple Reigns by using the color purple during the month of June or specifically on June 17th, the day we officially honor Prince. Purple items on sale in your store, purple artwork or photography, purple lights on your building, purple ribbons, balloons, plant purple flowers, celebrate with purple sidewalk chalk, etc.

Take photos of how you are celebrating Purple and share on Facebook and Instagram, and be sure to include #PurpleReigns2021 on your post so everyone can share the love of Prince! For anyone who is on Facebook and would like to view our Purple Reigns photo album at anytime, click here.
